La Habana Vieja - This original city was founded in 1519by the Spanish, thus the Baroque and Neoclassic building styles. The narrow streets of Old Havana contain approximately 3,000 buildings. Ancient monuments, forts, convents and churches, palaces, alleys, and human density can all be found within La Habana Vieja. Many buildings have fallen in ruin in the later half of the 20th century. The Cuban State has begun efforts to restore, renovate, and preserve Old Havana as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
